For more than half of his life, Rob has been working behind a microphone. If you ask his parents, they'll tell you he knew what he was going to do for a living by the time he was four years old, "calling" his own "races" with his Hot Wheels and NASCAR diecast cars. He was eager to learn, and quickly gained experience, getting his first job as a public address announcer when he was in eighth grade, working baseball games for his high school. By the time he was a sophomore, Rob was working in radio on a part-time basis in northeast Indiana. He then attended Ball State University, working in both radio and television, doing both news and sports, before graduating with a four-year degree in telecommunications and journalism. After college, Rob had numerous jobs across the Hoosier state over the course of the next seven years, working for WORX-FM in Madison, Indiana as an afternoon host, a broadcaster, a producer, and social media manager. On the side, he was the PA voice of the Hanover College Panthers. When Rob moved to Indianapolis, he worked as a sports anchor and an award-winning news anchor/reporter at Emmis Communications. Rob also continued PA announcing and broadcasting, covering events at both the high school and college levels. In the summer of 2022, Rob and his wife moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. His career in radio ended after 15 years, but he remains behind a microphone as a PA announcer and play-by-play broadcaster. Currently, Rob's day-to-day job is being a Sports Information Director at Green Level High School, where he also announces sporting events for the Gators. He is also the in-stadium voice of football at the University of North Carolina, and fills in for other sports at UNC, along with Duke University. He has continued his other passion, play-by-play broadcasting, while living in the Triangle, too. According to his peers, former co-workers, and bosses, Rob is a "breath of fresh air," "ahead of his time," and "easy to work with." He is "a quick learner" and "a hard worker" that brings a "creative," "professional," and "fun and exciting" presence to the workplace, and "great energy to every game." |
